MALVANI CHICKEN MASALA

Ingredients :

Chicken- 750 gms(skinned & cut into pieces on the bone)
Onions- 2medium
Ginger-garlic paste - 1 table spoon
turmeric powder- 1 tea spoon
Dried red chillies - 8(broken)
Cumin seeds - 3/4 teaspoon
Coriander seeds - 3 teaspoon
Black peppercorns - 7 to 8
Black cardamoms- 2
Green cardamoms - 3 to 4
Cloves - 2 to 3
Cinnamon stick - 1"
Bay leaf - 1
Scrapped coconut - 3 table spoons
Green chillis - 5 to 6
Ginger pieces(1/2") - 1.5 table spoons
Oil- 4 table spoons
Garammasala powder - 1/2teaspoon
Salt & sugar - as per taste.




Method:
Wash the chicken pieces properly & pat dry.Now,apply salt,turmeric powder & ginger- garlic paste on the chicken.Fold them.Keep aside for 1hour.
Meanwhile Dry roast cumin seeds,black peppercorns,red chillies and coriander seeds till fragrant.Cool and grind to a powder.
Chop the onions finely.
Put ginger pieces,scrapped coconut & green chillis in a mixer jar.Grind them into a fine paste with a little water.
Now,heat oil in a pan.Temper it with both black & green cardamoms,cloves,cinnamon & bay leaf.Wait till the fragrance comes out & add finely chopped onions.Saute till onion is golden.
Now,add the marinated chicken to the pan & mix well.Add the masala powder & cook for 3-4minutes.Now,add masala paste & mix again.Add 1/2cup of water & mix.Cover & cook till the chicken is soft.
Uncover the pan,adjust salt & sugar as per taste.
Add garammasala powder.Mix well & cook for 1minute.Dish out & serve hot with steamed rice/paratha/chapati.
